Youths today, dealing with tremendous competition in every sphere, work towards being competent in multiple areas. But being perfect at absolutely everything, is humanly impossible. Given this, it is inevitable that correction and, sometimes criticism, comes their way.

The concept of constructive criticism is somewhat subjective. Whether it is a correction which enhances their skills or a criticism that pushes them towards despondence, completely depends on the individual’s choice. Words, seemingly constructive for the giver, needn’t necessarily be the same to the receiver. Something spoken with a good intent might not be received with the same warmth.

However, being at receiver’s end, surely has some perks – mainly, that the spoken words can be interpreted in a manner the individual wishes. Thus, it can be rightly assumed that, words spoken with a not-so-good intent, can be perceived constructively, as a skill enhancer. The line between criticism and correction is very thin, but the power of exactly where to draw the line, lies more with the receiver than the giver.

Today’s youths have pushed many boundaries with their progressive and liberal thinking. Teaching oneself to push this line too, by positively accepting criticism/correction will prove to be a game-changer.
