NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have safely returned to Earth after an unexpected nine-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their journey back concluded when their SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule splashed down off the Florida coast, marking the end of a mission that was originally intended to last just eight days.

The mission’s duration was extended due to technical issues with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, which was initially intended to bring them home. As a result, Williams and Wilmore remained aboard the ISS, assisting with various tasks, including research, housekeeping, and maintenance.
Throughout their extended stay, they conducted approximately 150 experiments, contributing valuable data for future space missions. Their resilience and adaptability during this period have been commendable.
Upon return, Williams and Wilmore underwent routine medical evaluations to assess the effects of their prolonged exposure to microgravity. They are now reunited with their families, concluding a remarkable chapter in human space exploration.
