Investigations later revealed that the accused had confessed to the crime in Instagram chats with a friend, showing little remorse for his actions. Allegations soon emerged of serious negligence by the school, with parents claiming that staff failed to call an ambulance immediately and instead summoned a water tanker to wash away the blood, raising fears of evidence tampering. Reports also suggested that a prior conflict between the two boys had been overlooked by teachers and security staff, allowing the situation to spiral dangerously out of control.

The incident sparked massive protests in the city, during which the school premises were vandalized, staff were attacked, and police were forced to intervene. More than 500 people were booked for rioting and property damage. In the aftermath, education authorities suspended offline classes at the school and directed students to continue with online learning until safety measures were reviewed. The District Education Officer (DEO) flagged the case as one of “serious negligence” and instructed all schools in Ahmedabad to strengthen discipline committees, enhance security, and ensure quicker emergency responses.

School’s Version

When spoken to a senior supervisor and authority, Seventh Day Adventist School presented a different account of the events. According to the school, the injured student came near the administrative block after the attack. Around the same time, a mother arrived to pick up her child for the afternoon session and, before heading to another building, asked her younger child to wait nearby—during this short interval, the incident unfolded. The school clarified that the Principal was outside the premises but immediately rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news and visited the hospital  with the family to oversee medical care. The school staff members namely Mr. Durga Munda, Mr. Michael, and Mr. Mangal were those who first reported the case, adding that staff maintained constant communication with the family.

Reaffirming its commitment to student safety, the school emphasized that it had acted with urgency and responsibility. It appealed to parents and the wider community not to speculate, stressing that the truth would only emerge after the official investigation concludes. Authorities are currently gathering statements from parents, staff, and witnesses to establish the exact sequence of events.
