School in Residential Area Gets DEO Notice

Share

Nelson School in Maninagar has come under fire after residents protested its continued operation from a residential complex beyond the allowed period. On Tuesday, the District Education Officer (DEO) issued a show-cause notice to the school following complaints from locals. The school had received temporary permission to function from the complex during renovations of its main building, but this permission expired after one year.

Tensions escalated when the school began advertising admissions for the 2025 academic year from the same premises, prompting residents to stage a protest. Locals cited severe traffic congestion due to the lack of separate entry and exit points for students, creating daily chaos during drop-off and pick-up hours. DEO City, Rohit Chaudhari, confirmed the violation and said the school must respond to the notice. The situation has sparked broader concerns about unregulated educational setups in residential areas.
