S Somanath Appointed as New Chairman of ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced on Wednesday the appointment of the eminent rocket scientist Dr S Somanath as its new chairman and Space Secretary. Dr Somanath will succeed Kailasavadivoo Sivan . His appointment is for a combined tenure of three years from the date of joining of the post. He will be the 10th chairman of the premier space organization ISRO S Somanath completed his pre-degree program at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam.
He completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, Kerala University. Somanath obtained his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with specialization in Dynamics and Control.
