India’s high-profile white-ball tour of Bangladesh, slated for August 17–31, 2025 (three ODIs and three T20Is), has been officially postponed, delaying the international comeback of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

According to NDTV, the BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mutually agreed on the deferment, officially rescheduling the tour to September 2026. The boards have cited “scheduling convenience” as the reason, although underlying security concerns and diplomatic tensions—stemming from political instability in Bangladesh—also played a significant role .
This postponement directly affects Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who currently only participate in ODIs. Their exit from Test and T20 formats means that the Bangladesh series would have been their first opportunity to don the Indian jersey since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With the tour delayed, their return now shifts to the India–Australia series scheduled for October–November 2025 Down Under .
The delay not only impacts the duo but also India’s preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup, as the series would have provided valuable match practice ahead of the tournament .
While no official public statement has yet been released by BCCI or BCB, confirmation is expected soon. The boards are reportedly working on finalizing the new fixtures, which will likely be announced in the coming weeks .
For now, Indian fans eager to watch Rohit and Kohli in action will have to wait until the Australia tour later this year, as the Bangladesh matches are deferred to late 2026.
