In a historic first, Rashtrapati Bhavan will host a wedding ceremony within its premises on February 12, following President Droupadi Murmu’s approval. The special occasion is for Poonam Gupta, a CRPF officer posted as a PSO at Rashtrapati Bhavan, who has earned recognition for her service, including leading CRPF’s all-women contingent during the 74th Republic Day parade. She will marry Assistant Commandant Avneesh Kumar, currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceremony is expected to take place at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex within Rashtrapati Bhavan, with a restricted guest list comprising close family and friends. Poonam Gupta, a UPSC CAPF 2018 qualifier, has served in Naxal-affected regions and actively promotes women’s empowerment. Her remarkable journey and dedication to service have led to this rare honor, marking a significant milestone in the history of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
