Rescue operations kicked off at dawn, delayed by severe weather. By Sunday afternoon, 177 people had been airlifted, bringing the total rescued to around 1,200 so far. Helicopters, thermal cameras, and sniffer dogs have been instrumental in locating stranded victims.

In a remarkable feat, the Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) constructed a 90-foot (approximately 27 m) Bailey bridge over Limchagad between Gangnani and Dharali in just one day—despite adverse weather conditions. This makeshift bridge is a modular marvel, ready for vehicular transport almost immediately.

The bridge’s completion marks a pivotal turning point—it restores crucial road connectivity, enabling heavy vehicles to deliver much-needed relief to areas previously cut off. Until full access is restored, authorities are also using horses and mules to transport essential supplies.

Meanwhile, relief efforts continue on a war footing. Emergency supplies—rations, diesel, LPG cylinders—are being sent daily. Medical teams are on site, power and communication are being restored, and evacuation via air support remains ongoing.
