44% of parents reported fee hikes between 50% and 80%.
8% experienced increases exceeding 80%.
These escalating costs have sparked protests in cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, where parents are challenging the steep fee structures.Furthermore, 93% of surveyed parents believe that the government has not been effective in controlling these excessive fee hikes.
The Ministry of Education’s Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) report for 2023-24 indicates a decline in school enrollments, dropping to 24.8 crore from 26.02 crore in 2018-19, marking a 6% decrease. This trend raises concerns about the affordability and accessibility of quality education.
In response to these challenges, parents are advocating for regulatory measures to ensure that education remains both affordable and of high quality for all children.
