Veteran pacer Mohammad Shami is set to make a much-awaited return to the T20I setup after a 14-month absence. The 34-year-old last played in the World Cup final against Australia on November 19, 2023, in Ahmedabad. However, a subsequent ankle surgery and knee swelling ruled him out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Men’s Selection Committee has named Suryakumar Yadav as the captain, with all-rounder Axar Patel serving as vice-captain. This marks a new leadership combination for the team in the shortest format of the game.
India’s squad for the England series features a mix of seasoned players and rising talents, including the likes of Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Rinku Singh. Wicketkeeping duties will be shared by Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel.
