Mirabai Chanu Clinches Silver at 2025 World Weightlifting Championships

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu made a strong return to the global stage by winning the silver medal in the women’s 48 kg category at the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships held in Førde, Norway.

She posted a combined lift of 199 kg, with 84 kg in the snatch and 115 kg in the clean & jerk. Beyond the podium finish, Chanu set new national records in both the clean & jerk and total categories.

This marks her first world championship medal in three years, reaffirming her status among the elite weightlifters. In the context of her broader career, she remains a consistent performer for India, with prior accolades including an Olympic silver (Tokyo 2020) and success at Commonwealth and world-level meets.
