Ladakh Hosts 4th LG Cup Polo

The 4th LG Cup Horse Polo-2024 Tournament was inaugurated in Ladakh at the newly built Goshan Stadium in Drass, a significant event for the region’s traditional sports. Organized by Ladakh’s Department of Youth Services and Sports, this tournament marks the first use of the Goshan Polo Stadium, built at a cost of Rs 6.84 crore.

The Lieutenant Governor praised the efforts of the organizers, players, and the audience, emphasizing Ladakh’s dedication to youth development and the cultural value of horse polo. He also shared the administration’s initiative to train 12 girls from Kargil in horse riding and polo with the President’s bodyguard in Delhi, encouraging more youth participation. The opening match between teams Himalayan-A and Himalayan-B started with a ceremonial throw-in by the Lieutenant Governor, symbolizing Ladakh’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its rich heritage.
