Young Anish Sarkar from Kolkata has become the youngest-rated chess prodigy at just three years old. While most kids his age enjoy cartoons, Anish is captivated by the strategic world of chess. Recently, he achieved a rating of 1555, breaking records in the chess community and surpassing previous youngest players. Anish’s journey began when he developed a fascination for chess videos, leading his family to support his growing passion by enrolling him under the guidance of chess coach and India’s second Grandmaster, Dibyendu Barua.
Anish’s talent shone in tournaments like the West Bengal Under-9 and Under-13 Open, where he faced older players, even earning praise from Barua. Anish looks up to world champion Magnus Carlsen and dreams of meeting him at future chess events. His mother, who left her job to support him, is proud of his focus and dedication to the game.
