Kazakhstan has recently uncovered substantial deposits of rare earth metals, marking a pivotal development in the global supply of these critical materials.
Zhana Kazakhstan Deposit: Located approximately 420 kilometers from the capital, this site contains an estimated 20 million metric tons of rare earth metals, including neodymium, cerium, lanthanum, and yttrium, with an average concentration of 700 grams per ton.
Kuirektykol Site: Situated in the Karaganda region, about 300 kilometers southeast of Astana, this deposit holds nearly one million tons of rare earth elements.Notable areas within this site, such as Irgiz and Dos, exhibit concentrations exceeding 0.1%, with some samples reaching up to 0.25%.
These discoveries could position Kazakhstan among the leading countries in rare earth metal reserves, following China and Brazil.Rare earth metals are essential for various technologies, including electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense systems. The Kazakh government is actively seeking foreign investment to develop the necessary extraction and processing infrastructure, aiming to become a significant player in the global rare earth market
