Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative and proactive Marketing and Communications Intern to join our team for a children’s newspaper and magazine. Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Management:
- Assist in creating engaging and educational marketing content for various platforms, including
social media, newsletters, and the website. - Help develop promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and email campaigns.
- Support the maintenance and updating of the publication’s website and social media accounts.
Social Media and Digital Marketing: - Help manage and grow the publication’s social media presence across platforms such as
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. - Create and schedule social media posts, monitor engagement, and respond to comments and
messages. - Assist in developing and implementing digital marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness
and drive subscriptions.
Public Relations and Outreach:
- Support the development and distribution of press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with media contacts, influencers, and
community organizations. - Help organize and execute events, webinars, and other outreach activities to promote the
publication.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and target audiences.
- Collect and analyze data on campaign performance and audience engagement.
- Prepare reports and presentations based on research findings to inform marketing strategies.
Customer Engagement and Support:
- Engage with subscribers, parents, and schools through various communication channels to
gather feedback and enhance customer satisfaction. - Assist in managing and responding to inquiries from readers and stakeholders.
- Support initiatives such as contests and interactive features to increase reader participation and
engagement.
Project Support:
- Assist in planning and executing marketing and communication projects from start to finish.
- Collaborate with the editorial and design teams to ensure cohesive and effective marketing
efforts. - Help with administrative tasks related to marketing and communications as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s program in Marketing,
Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
Skills and Competencies: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and social media management tools.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics is advantageous.
