India’s First Private Train – Tejas Express
Share

India’s first private train, the Tejas Express, has started running between Lucknow and Delhi. Unlike government-run trains like Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, or Rajdhani, this train is operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Tejas Express is designed to offer a more comfortable and modern travel experience. It has air-conditioned coaches, onboard meals, entertainment screens, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The train also promises better punctuality and customer service.
The ticket price for Tejas Express starts at ₹1,280, making it a premium travel option. Since it is privately operated, services like compensation for delays and better cleanliness are also provided.
This train is a major step towards privatization in Indian Railways, aiming to improve travel quality for passengers. More private trains may be introduced in the future, offering better facilities and competition in the railway sector.
