The task force includes experts from IIT Mumbai and IIM Mumbai, along with officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, and the Data Security Council of India. Their role is to design a roadmap for the university, ensuring strong industry-academia collaboration to drive research, innovation, and technological advancements.

During a press conference, Minister Ashish Shelar emphasized that the AI university will be a center of excellence, fostering partnerships between government, industry, and academia. The task force has already conducted two meetings to discuss the structure and framework of the university. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to making Maharashtra a leading hub for technology and innovation.

AI experts believe that establishing India’s first AI university will put Maharashtra at the forefront of technological progress. Countries like the US, UK, France, and China have already integrated AI education into their academic institutions, and Maharashtra’s move will strengthen India’s position in the global AI landscape.
