India’s U-19 Women’s Cricket Team successfully defended their T20 World Cup title, securing a dominant 9-wicket victory over South Africa in the final at Kuala Lumpur. With this win, India claimed their second ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup trophy, reaffirming their dominance in the tournament. Skipper Niki Prasad followed in the footsteps of Shafali Verma, who led India to their inaugural title in 2023. South Africa, after an unbeaten run in the tournament, faltered under pressure and managed only 82 runs in their 20 overs. India’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance, with Gongadi Trisha leading the attack, taking 3 wickets, while Parunika Sisodia and Aayushi Shukla bagged 2 wickets each.
Chasing a modest target of 83, India displayed top-class batting, securing victory in just 11.2 overs. Despite losing opener Kamalini early, Gongadi Trisha’s unbeaten 44 off 33 balls and Sanika Chalke’s steady 26 off 22 balls ensured a smooth win. Trisha’s all-round brilliance made her the standout performer of the match.
