Share

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Indian and Pakistani soldiers exchanged gunfire at several points along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. This incident happened just before Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s planned visit to the region. According to reports, Pakistani troops initiated the firing, and Indian forces responded effectively.

The skirmish follows a tragic event earlier in the week, where 26 people were killed in a terror attack near Pahalgam, a popular tourist spot in Kashmir. India has blamed the attack on militants supported by Pakistan, a claim that Pakistan denies.

In response to the attack, India has taken several diplomatic actions, including suspending a key water-sharing treaty and revoking visas for Pakistani nationals. Pakistan has countered by closing its airspace to Indian flights and warning against any attempts to alter water flows, considering such actions as acts of war.

The United Nations has urged both countries to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through peaceful dialogue.

This exchange of fire underscores the fragile peace in the region and the importance of continued efforts towards stability and understanding between the two nations.
