Gujarat’s New Plan: Trade Old Vehicles for Big Benefits!

The Gujarat government has introduced a “One-Time Waiver” scheme to encourage the scrapping of older vehicles, aiming to reduce pollution and enhance road safety. Effective from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, the initiative offers significant financial incentives for vehicle owners.

Eligibility: Vehicles older than 8 years, including trucks, buses, maxi cabs, and construction equipment, are eligible.

Benefits: Owners who scrap their vehicles at government-approved Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) centers will receive waivers on outstanding taxes, penalties, interest, and other dues.

Objective: The scheme aims to phase out aging vehicles that contribute to pollution and are prone to accidents, thereby promoting a cleaner and safer environment.
This initiative is expected to benefit commercial vehicle owners significantly, especially those operating older vehicles in urban areas. By providing financial relief and promoting the use of newer, more efficient vehicles, Gujarat takes a step forward in sustainable transportation.
