On April 4, 2025, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel initiated the ‘Catch the Rain Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0’ at Dawada village in Mehsana district.This statewide campaign, running until May 31, 2025, aims to enhance water conservation and groundwater recharge in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Catch the Rain’ initiative.The program involves multiple state departments, including Water Resources, Water Supply, and Rural Development, collaborating on projects such as deepening lakes, desilting check dams, and implementing rainwater harvesting systems.Since 2018, over 107,000 projects have been completed under this initiative, increasing Gujarat’s water storage capacity by approximately 119,144 lakh cubic feet and generating nearly 200 lakh man-days of employment.The campaign has received national recognition, earning the SKOCH Award in 2020 and 2021.
