These centers will have four to six beds and will mainly provide chemotherapy treatment. They will also teach people about cancer prevention. Officials say this will make cancer treatment easier for people, especially in villages, and allow big hospitals to focus on serious cases.

In the 2024 budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared that 200 daycare cancer centers will start in 2025-26. The government has also approved cancer treatment centers in all new AIIMS hospitals and has invested over ₹3,000 crore in cancer care since 2014.

To help patients, the government is making cancer medicines more affordable. Many medicines are sold at up to 50% discount at special pharmacies. Also, more than 26 crore people have been checked for oral, breast, and cervical cancer at health centers across India.

By building these daycare cancer centers, the government hopes to make cancer treatment more accessible and improve healthcare for all.
