One of the most significant changes this year is that Ayurveda Day will now be observed on a fixed date — 23 September — instead of being tied to Dhanvantari Jayanti. The theme for 2025 has been announced as “Ayurveda for People & Planet”, reflecting a push to highlight Ayurveda not just as a health practice, but as a sustainable, integrative solution that addresses both human well-being and environmental health.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized that Goa — with its wellness culture, tourism appeal, and international outlook — provides an ideal setting to amplify this theme on a global scale. The choice of AIIA Goa as venue underlines the government’s investment in modern infrastructure for Ayurveda and its intent to engage with international partners.
The Ministry of Ayush has outlined plans for a broad spectrum of events: nationwide programmes across all states and union territories, and outreach through Indian missions abroad, collaborations with international universities, wellness organizations, and diaspora networks. Last year’s Ayurveda Day had engagement from over 150 countries, and this year’s goal is to broaden that participation further.
With this new fixed-date observance and expanded global outreach, Ayurveda Day 2025 seeks to reaffirm India’s leadership in traditional medicine, while pushing Ayurveda’s relevance for modern healthcare challenges and environmental sustainability.
