One fine morning, Meeku was cleaning his bicycle. Then he saw womething glowing at the next door, in Sher Khan’s house. ‘What’s that?’ he wondered. Quietely, Meeku approached. He found the glow coming from the basement. ‘Let me see what’s going on here?’ thought Meeku.
He walked down to the basement. There he saw Sher Khan applying some chemical over a wooden toy. The moment the chemical touched the toy, it began to glow and a shield seemed to form all around it. Sher Khan, then threw a ball at the toy and it bounced back as if it had hit the wall. “Ha!Ha! My experiment is successful,” he exclaimed and laughed. ‘Something fishy,’ thought Meeku as he hurried up back home, in fear and confusion.
Next morning, Meeku read in the newspaper that a burglar, with a glowing shield, has robbed a bank. He recoiled, his mind busy and eyes narrowing. ‘It must be Sher Khan who had robbed the bank,’ he concluded.
Soon, with a plan Meeku sneaked into Sher Khan’s laboratory and replaced all the chemical with cloured water. Then he went to the police. “ I think Sher Khan is the burglar,” Meeku told the police what he had seen in Sher Khan’s basement.
“This is the house,” said Meeku to the policeman, when they had reached Sher Khan’s house. When Sher Khan saw the police, he ran to his laboratory to pour the chemical over himself. ‘Now I shall be protected with a shield and no one can catch me,’ he said to himself.
But nothing happened as Meeku had changed the chemical. Sher Khan was caught. He confessed. “Meeku! You’ve been brave,” said the policeman. Meeku felt very happy.
