Delhi Court to Decide on DPS Dwarka Student Expulsions

Share

The Delhi High Court is reviewing a case where more than 30 students were expelled from Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka because of unpaid fees. The school claims it has a ₹31 crore deficit over the past decade and is owed ₹42 lakh by these students. They argue that notices were sent to parents regarding the dues.

Parents contend that the expulsions breach previous administrative and judicial orders that prohibited fee increases. They also allege that the school ignored reminders and complaints, and even confined students to the library for not paying the increased fees.

The case is part of a broader dispute, with the school challenging a notice from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which directed police to file a case under the Juvenile Justice Act for the expulsions and other related issues. The High Court had previously stayed this notice.

The court has reserved its verdict and is expected to announce its decision soon.
