In a chilling incident that occurred just a day after the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, another Air India flight—AI379 from Phuket to New Delhi—was forced to make an emergency landing following a bomb threat on board.

The flight had departed from Phuket International Airport around 9:30 AM local time on June 13, carrying 156 passengers and crew. Shortly after takeoff, the crew received a security alert related to a bomb threat. Following protocol, the pilot decided to circle over the Andaman Sea and then return to Phuket.
Upon landing, all passengers were safely evacuated, and Thai security officials immediately began inspecting the aircraft. After a thorough search, no explosives were found. Local authorities are questioning the passenger who found the bomb threat note, and investigations are underway to determine if it was a hoax.
This incident comes at a sensitive time, as the nation is still mourning the loss of over 240 people in the Ahmedabad Air India crash that happened just 24 hours earlier. The coincidence of these two serious aviation events has sparked public anxiety and raised questions about airline safety and crisis preparedness.
According to reports, India saw nearly 1,000 bomb threat hoaxes in 2024, many targeting schools and airports. This latest scare highlights the urgent need for enhanced airport security, onboard vigilance, and threat detection measures.
Air India has yet to release a detailed statement, but officials confirmed that all passengers from Flight AI379 are safe and are being assisted in continuing their journey.
