Deepika Padukone has made history by becoming the first Indian actress to be awarded a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame. She has been selected in the Motion Pictures category as part of the Class of 2026, alongside global names like Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, and Rami Malek.

The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce during a live press conference. The selection committee chose from hundreds of nominations submitted in 2024. Padukone’s inclusion is being celebrated as a proud milestone for Indian cinema and global representation of South Asian talent.
The actress responded with a single, heartfelt word on her Instagram Stories: “Gratitude…”. Her quiet, dignified response reflects the grace with which she has built her career both in India and abroad. This achievement comes on the heels of Mindy Kaling’s recognition earlier this year, as the first South Asian woman to receive a star.
Deepika made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with XXX: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel and has since walked global red carpets, represented India on international platforms, and advocated for mental health awareness. At home, she continues to lead major film projects and remains one of Bollywood’s most influential stars.
As part of the Class of 2026, she joins 35 new honourees across film, television, music, and live performance categories. Her recognition marks a major moment for Indian artists breaking into global entertainment in meaningful and lasting ways.
