Indian Grandmaster Gukesh Dommaraju etched his name in history by becoming the youngest-ever world chess champion at just 18 years old. In a thrilling finale in Singapore on December 12, Gukesh defeated reigning champion Ding Liren in the decisive 14th game of the World Chess Championship match.

With this victory, Gukesh also became the second Indian, after Viswanathan Anand, to claim the classical chess world championship title. He broke the long-standing record set by Russian legend Garry Kasparov, who became world champion at 22 in 1985.
