Cochin Shipyard delivers first made in India aircraft carrier to Navy

The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) delivered the country’s first indigenously-built aircraft carrier (IAC-1) to the Indian Navy. According to Navy, indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) ‘Vikrant’ was delivered to it after extensive user acceptance trials,” and called it a “momentous day in the Indian Maritime History. The 262 metre long carrier is much larger and advanced than her predecessor and is powered by four gas turbines totalling 88 MW power and has a maximum speed of 28 Knots.
