Recent studies have shown that children aged 4 to 10 consume about 13% of their daily calories from sugar, while those aged 11 to 18 consume around 15%. These figures significantly exceed the recommended limit of 5% .

What Schools Are Required to Do:

  • Install ‘Sugar Boards’ displaying:

    • Recommended daily sugar intake

    • Sugar content in commonly consumed foods and beverages

    • Health risks of excessive sugar consumption

    • Healthier alternatives to sugary products

  • Conduct seminars and workshops to educate students about mindful eating habits and the long-term benefits of reduced sugar intake.

Schools are also required to submit a brief report along with photographs of these activities in PDF format by July 15, 2025, via the provided link:

This initiative is part of CBSE’s broader effort to foster a healthier school environment by promoting informed dietary choices among students and reducing the risk of lifestyle-related health issues from an early age.
