CBSE Introduces Parenting Calendar to Boost Parent-School Ties

In a bid to improve communication between schools and parents, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a parenting calendar for the 2025-26 academic session. This initiative aims to provide structured and timely communication to support students, particularly those in adolescence and children with special needs (CWSN). The calendar will address various concerns such as behavioral changes, exam-related issues, and other important milestones in the academic year.

The parenting calendar is part of CBSE’s ongoing efforts to enhance parent-teacher interactions. By offering a clear and consistent framework for engagement, the calendar will help ensure that both parents and schools can address student needs in a timely manner. It will focus on areas such as student progress, exam preparations, and emotional or behavioral adjustments, ensuring transparent communication throughout the academic year. This initiative highlights CBSE’s commitment to supporting students at different stages of their education, particularly those facing unique challenges.

A committee led by Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi, is responsible for developing the parenting calendar. The committee includes nine additional principals from across India, including notable educators such as Dr. Swati Popat Vats from Podar Education Network, Mumbai, and Rekha Krishnan from Vasant Valley School, Delhi. These experts are conducting both virtual and in-person meetings to collaborate on key decisions and draft the calendar. Their combined expertise aims to ensure the calendar addresses the diverse needs of students, parents, and educators.

The final recommendations for the CBSE parenting calendar are scheduled to be submitted by March 15, 2025, marking the completion of the first phase of the initiative. Once implemented, the parenting calendar will become an essential tool for parents and educators, fostering a collaborative environment and helping to bridge the communication gap between home and school.
