BCCI to Honour Indian Armed Forces at IPL 2025 Closing Ceremony

Share

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the IPL 2025 closing ceremony, scheduled for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. This gesture honors their bravery during Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 civilian casualties. Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the tribute, stating, “BCCI salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire.”

The ceremony will feature special performances, including a military band, and will be attended by the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

This initiative follows a week-long suspension of the IPL after the Pahalgam attack, emphasizing the nation’s respect and gratitude towards its armed forces.
