SVPI Airport to Get New Semi-automated Cargo Terminal by June 2023

Construction of a new ‘semi-automated’ cargo terminal is already underway at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport. The terminal, to come up opposite the India Meteorological Department office on the premises, is expected to be operational by June 2023. A new Integrated Cargo Terminal is being planned considering cargo growth for the next 30 years. The Phase 1 work is expected to complete in less than a year. SVPI airport continues to focus on fulfilling the demand of passengers and cargo transport with every passing day. While infrastructure up gradation work has started in terminal buildings focusing on enhancing passenger facilities. According to available data, a 1.15 lakh tonne of cargo was processed at the airport in the year 2019. The new facility, with a total built-up area of ​​33,000 square meters, will increase cargo handling capacity of the airport. The first phase will cover a built-up area of ​​21,000 square meters.
