Smriti Mandhana Breaks Record for Most International Runs in a Calendar Year
India’s opener Smriti Mandhana set a remarkable record on Sunday, scoring 91 runs against the West Indies in the first ODI in Vadodara. This knock took her total for 2024 to 1,602 runs across all three formats, breaking the all-time record for the most international runs in a calendar year.
Mandhana achieved this feat in just 36 matches, with her highest score being 149 against South Africa in the sole Test in Chennai in June.
In addition to this, Mandhana also set a new record for most runs in a calendar year in women’s T20Is, amassing 763 runs in 2024. Furthermore, she broke the record for most 50+ scores in women’s T20I cricket during the series decider against the West Indies.
