The Republic Day Parade 2025 was an unforgettable event that celebrated India’s diverse cultural heritage. This year, the parade made history by earning a Guinness World Record for being the ‘Largest Indian Folk Variety Dance.’ Over 5,000 talented folk and tribal artists from across the country came together to perform more than 50 unique dance forms. The event highlighted India’s unity in diversity, showcasing themes like Viksit Bharat (Developed India), Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (One India, Great India), and Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi (Heritage and Progress).
The performances, titled Jayati Jai Mamah Bharatam (JJMB), were a beautiful mix of colorful costumes, traditional music, and intricate choreography. Dances such as Assam’s lively Bihu, Rajasthan’s energetic Kalbelia, and Kerala’s dramatic Padayani captivated the audience. Other iconic performances included the Snow Lion Dance from Arunachal Pradesh and the Chhau dance of Bengal and Odisha, each telling a unique story about India’s traditions, festivals, and victories.
The effort behind this massive show was equally commendable. The National School of Drama, under the guidance of Director Chittaranjan Tripathy, brought the vision to life. A team of experts designed over 60 unique props, including masks and ceremonial objects, adding a vibrant visual appeal. This grand event not only celebrated India’s rich cultural legacy but also inspired pride among millions who witnessed the historic achievement.
