The pink ball, used in day-night Test matches, offers significantly more assistance to bowlers compared to the traditional red ball, especially during the night session under floodlights. This heightened challenge for batters stems from the pink ball’s increased swing and movement, making survival at the crease particularly difficult under lights.
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, in a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, referred to the pink ball as a “Rosé,” highlighting its unique characteristics. Lee explained that the cooler nighttime conditions, combined with higher humidity, enhance the ball’s ability to swing and shape through the air. He fondly recalled his enjoyment of bowling under lights with a white ball and noted that the pink ball amplifies those conditions, making it even more advantageous for fast bowlers.
