Indian scientist Prof. Jayant Murthy receives the honour of having an asteroid (215884) named “Jayantmurthy” by the International Astronomical Union for his significant contributions to ultraviolet astronomy and space missions.. Situated between Mars and Jupiter, asteroid Jayantmurthy completes one revolution around the Sun every 3.3 years.
