The annual International Kite Festival in Gujarat, celebrating the Uttarayan festival, will take place from January 11 to 14, 2025, organized by the Gujarat Tourism Corporation. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for January 11 at 9 AM at Ahmedabad’s Vallabh Sadan Riverfront, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Tourism Minister Moolubhai Bera in attendance.
This year, the festival will feature 143 kite flyers from 47 countries, 52 participants from 11 Indian states, and 417 kite enthusiasts from 11 cities across Gujarat. The celebration will extend to other locations, including the Statue of Unity (Ekta Nagar), Rajkot, and Vadodara on January 12, and Surat, Shivrajpur, and Dhordo on January 13.
The festival’s highlights include a grand cultural program, a recitation of Aditya Stuti Vandana, and a parade of international and national kite flyers. Visitors can also enjoy night kite flying, evening cultural programs, kite workshops, handicraft exhibits, and refreshment stalls.
Promoting tourism and celebrating Gujarat’s cultural heritage, the festival reflects the Uttarayan tradition of nature worship. It continues the legacy started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of turning festivals into grand public events with mass participation.
