Gujarat Govt Reduces Fuel Surcharge to ₹2.45 Per Unit, Benefiting 1.75 Crore Power Consumers
In a move to lower electricity costs for consumers of state-owned power distribution companies, the Gujarat government announced a 40-paise reduction in the Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) surcharge. Starting October, the surcharge will be ₹2.45 per unit instead of the current ₹2.85 per unit.
This decision, announced by Finance and Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, will benefit 1.75 crore power consumers across the state, providing a financial relief of ₹1,120 crore.
The reduction applies to consumers of the four state-owned power distribution companies: Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL), Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL), and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL). The announcement was made by Finance and Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai during a press conference.
