Ahmedabad is set to redefine urban living with a range of forward-thinking initiatives targeting transportation, sports, culture, and tourism. These ambitious projects aim to enhance the city’s infrastructure, connectivity, and global appeal, positioning Ahmedabad as a leading urban hub in India.

Enhanced Connectivity: LRT and Water Transport
Building on its successful BRTS and Metro systems, Ahmedabad is introducing a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, inspired by Kolkata’s trams. Designed to connect metro stations to residential areas in high-traffic zones, the LRT will make commuting smoother and more efficient. Supported by CEP University, the project is expected to feature in the city’s 2025 Municipal Corporation budget.

Additionally, Ahmedabad will launch a water transport service along the Sabarmati River, connecting Vasana Barrage to Gandhinagar’s GIFT City. Modeled after Kochi’s water transport system, this initiative aims to reduce road congestion and maximize the potential of the iconic Sabarmati riverfront.

Sports Aspirations: A World-Class Complex in Motera
As part of its vision to host the 2036 Olympic Games, Ahmedabad is planning a state-of-the-art sports complex in Motera. Spanning 350 acres, the facility will include an aquatic center, football stadium, tennis stadium, and indoor arena. This project reflects Ahmedabad’s dedication to nurturing athletic talent and establishing itself as a global sports destination.

With these transformative initiatives, Ahmedabad is not just improving its infrastructure but also paving the way for a vibrant and sustainable future.
