0ne day before Vaishnav’s birthday, people rushed to greet him. Everybody started chatting. Secretly, Vaishnav snuck out with his grandpa to avoid the noise. While they were walking, Vaishnav started wondering about the lights that shined in the sky. He asked his grandpa, “What are these little lights in the sky?” Grandpa answered “They are not little lights. They are called stars. They are huge glowing balls of fire.”  Vaishnav stood confused, “But they seem so small.” Grandpa said “They seem small because they are many light years far away.” Still puzzled he asked “What are light years?” Grandpa replied “The distance traveled by light in 1 year is called a Light Year.” Fascinated by the talk Vaishnav told his father that he wanted a telescope for his birthday present. After the birthday party he asked his father whether there was a branch to study the Universe. His father answered “Yes, there is a branch to study the Universe and it is known as Astronomy.” Astronomy is the study of celestial bodies in the Universe.  People who study Astronomy are called Astronomers. Many renowned Astronomers are- Johannes Kepler, Christian Huygens, Edwin Hubble, Edmond Halley Charles Messier and many more. After that day Vaishnav decided to become an astronomer and discover many things.
