Air India is set to establish South Asia’s largest Flying Training Organisation (FTO) in Amravati, India, by mid-2026, marking a significant development in the region’s aviation sector. This ambitious project is designed to increase pilot training capacity, addressing the growing demand for skilled aviators in India and neighboring countries. With the aviation industry poised for growth, especially in India’s rapidly expanding air travel market, the FTO will play a crucial role in ensuring a steady supply of well-trained pilots. In addition to boosting aviation infrastructure, the initiative is expected to generate approximately 3,000 jobs, contributing to both the local economy and the broader aviation workforce.
This marks Air India’s first FTO within India, and it will be licensed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for a 30-year period, ensuring long-term operational stability. The FTO in Amravati will not only provide world-class pilot training but also elevate India’s position as a regional hub for aviation training. By investing in such large-scale infrastructure, Air India is preparing to meet the future demands of a growing fleet and a competitive global aviation market, while also supporting the country’s vision of becoming a global aviation leader.
