Rescue operations have been hampered by continuous rainfall since Monday, complicating efforts to clear the debris and search for survivors. Despite these challenges, teams are working tirelessly to locate any remaining passengers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased. President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her condolences, calling the loss of lives “extremely tragic.”

This incident has revived painful memories of the 2017 Kotrupi tragedy, where 48 people lost their lives in a similar landslide.
