‘Vande Somnath’ Cultural Evenings on Shravan Mondays at Somnath

For the first time, the Somnath Temple authorities, in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, have launched ‘Vande Somnath’ – a special cultural program held on the six Mondays of Shravan: 14, 21, 28 July, and 4, 11, 18 August 2025. These evenings at the temple’s Promenade Walkway and near Sagar Darshan Bhavan will showcase renditions of Shiva’s dance through Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Tippani, and shadow puppetry, performed by renowned artists nationwide.

The initiative aims to blend devotion with artistic heritage, turning the temple’s surroundings into sanctified cultural venues. All performances occur post the day’s prayers, enriching the spiritual ambiance with creative expression .

To facilitate pilgrims, the GSRTC introduced an AC Volvo bus service from Ranip, Ahmedabad to Somnath. The ₹4,000 (solo) and ₹7,050 (pair) package includes round-trip travel, snacks, two meals, overnight accommodation, and guided tours. Highlights include a Light & Sound Show at Somnath, Triveni Sangam Aarti, and visits to nearby shrines like Bhalka Tirth, Ram Mandir, and Geeta Mandir.
