Mizoram Becomes India’s First Fully Literate State

Mizoram has made history by becoming India’s first fully literate state, achieving a literacy rate of 98.2%. This significant accomplishment surpasses the Ministry of Education’s benchmark of 95%. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary at Mizoram University in Aizawl.

The success was achieved through the Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) initiative, also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP).
