In Khajuri Hadmatiya village, Junagadh district, Gujarat, a newly constructed government primary school building was demolished following reports of substandard construction. Villagers, including students, documented and shared evidence of significant structural issues, such as major cracks in the roof appearing just a day after the ceiling’s completion on March 19. After local officials failed to respond, the community escalated the matter to Minister of State for Education, Praful Pansheriya, who ordered the building’s demolition to uphold transparency and accountability in educational infrastructure. Consequently, the Taluka Resource Person (TRP) engineer overseeing the project was suspended, and the contractor, Rajkot-based R L Jasani, received a show-cause notice. The Education Department has mandated Jasani to document the demolition process and submit a detailed report with photographs. Future construction will be assigned to a different contractor to ensure quality standards are met.
