Share

A book fair, called Kitab Kauthik, was supposed to take place at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand on February 15 and 16. It was meant to bring thousands of books to students and book lovers. However, organizers say that some student groups objected to certain books, leading to the university cancelling the event.

The organizers tried to move the book fair to another location, Ramlila Ground, but they claim it was already booked by another group. The local officials said that the book fair was not cancelled for political reasons but because of ongoing university exams.

The event was meant to promote reading among students and bring a variety of books to smaller towns. The last book fair was held successfully in Tehri, and even the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand supported the idea of more book fairs. However, this cancellation has disappointed many book lovers.

Books help children learn new things and explore different ideas. Many people hope that such book fairs will continue in the future so that students can enjoy reading and discover new stories.
