Coldplay frontman Chris Martin kicked off the band’s final performance in India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Republic Day with a heartfelt tribute to the nation. Opening the concert with the patriotic anthem “Vande Mataram,” Martin greeted the crowd with, “Happy Republic Day, India!” Fans lit up the stadium with their phone flashlights, creating a breathtaking atmosphere that complemented the moment. The concert, streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar, brought over 1.25 lakh attendees together in celebration of music and the country’s 76th Republic Day.
Throughout the evening, Martin won hearts with his warm interaction, even addressing the audience in Hindi. “Dhanyawaad pyaare dosto. Aap sab ka bohat swagat hai hamare show me,” he said, drawing loud cheers. The band performed hits like “High Power,” “Adventure of a Lifetime,” and “Paradise,” keeping the energy high. Expressing gratitude, Martin said, “We are so happy to be here, especially on a day when all the planets are aligned, and we have the best audience in the best stadium in the whole wide world.” The concert was a perfect blend of global music and heartfelt appreciation for India.
