Barren lands surrounding Ahmedabad and a declining green cover are causing disruptions to the region’s ecological balance, resulting in irregular rainfall, extreme summer heat, and unpredictable winter weather. To combat these challenges, a large-scale initiative to plant 1.5 lakh trees in Ahmedabad and the Detroj region has been launched. The project, which kicked off on Saturday, aims for completion by March 2025.

To support this effort for a better climate in the city, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has partnered with the NGO Bal Bharti Academy, which works in the field of environmental conservation. The campaign, titled “#एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम (#Plant4Mother),” is gaining momentum as more people join the initiative.
