The ‘Best of Two Exam’ initiative, aimed at “reducing the dropout ratio of students,” is expected to benefit over 2.11 lakh students of Classes X and XII, the Gujarat state government announced on Wednesday.
“This decision by the state government will help lower the dropout ratio in the state. Students who failed in their exams or were unable to achieve satisfactory results the first time for any reason will now have a second golden chance through the ‘Best of Two Exam,’” stated an official release issued by the government on Wednesday.
In October, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) issued a notification granting all Class X and XII students across all streams the option to utilize the ‘Best of Two’ system. This decision provided significant relief to students.
Previously, during the 2023-24 academic year, the ‘Best of Two’ option was available exclusively for Class XII Science stream students. Under this provision, students could improve their results by appearing in supplementary exams conducted in June and July, after the main board exams held in March. By choosing the better of the two results, students were able to enhance their performance.
